Spring snow on blossom
Hunched herons fix swift ripples
The stone bridge remains
Poetry?
You, always you
Between the waves
the silence.
Between the silence
the words.
Between the words
you, always you.
Between the shadows
the light.
Between the light
the dreaming.
Between the dreaming
you, always you.
Between the heartbeats
the resting.
Between the resting
the force.
Between the force
you, always you.
Between the words
between the dreaming
between the force
between the very end of things
You. You.
You, always you.
The feeling before falling
A look back over your shoulder.
That gasp.
The refraction of a navel jewel.
The feeling before falling.
The moment before falling
I look out across the foam-flecked waves
and feel the moment before falling.
I close my eyes and tilt my head
and feel the moment before falling.
In my mind I see your smile
the sunlight on your earring
I hear your voice, I sense your touch
I feel the moment before falling.
Electricity
Spring sun spray through trees
Buds burst bright green, red, bright green
Electricity
The wind is restless
The wind is restless
as ever, never sleeping.
Deep breaths. In. And out.
I hold your beauty in my eyes
I hold your beauty in my eyes;
I hold it in my mind.
I hold your beauty in my heart;
I hold it in my memories.
There is nothing more to say.
There is nothing more to say.
You are beautiful in your bones
You are beautiful in your bones.
You are beautiful in your heart and muscle.
Your beauty shines out through your eyes, through your smile.
Again my fever
Again my fever burned me. Again. Again.
And then her voice was melted ice
My heart snow-touched soft-slowed to race
I felt a dream of frozen breeze
I heard a song no longer screams
And then the fever left me.
light to dark to light
dawn a kiss on a loved one’s forehead
nightfall a touch on a loved one’s cheek
