flowers growing through
grass drying after harvest
fear of innocence undone

all the reds in the snow

What’s a word worth?
If a daffodil
So golden
sheltering from rain
magnolia petals fall
a gentle pelting
A single petal falls inside my collar, cool against warm skin. The raindrop it held trickles slowly down, a single tear goodbye.
raindrops softly cease
clouds are clearing in the breeze
my mind stills to dream
inspired by some words my friend @TangledFox used
rocket trails weightless in the star-studded sky
flower bursts hang, hang
fall like clothes
softly dropping to a carpeted floor
Hope springs eternal
Buds burst to flower
Spring brings us eternal hope
buds burst like heartbeats
summer tramples spring flowers
colours too soon burnt
Dev’s failing eyes read the news on his phone. ‘I was painting blue irises in my garden this morning.’ And immediately he was there again, in the sunshine garden, watching her as she painted, her blue eyes fixed on the flowers, her back curved, her shape taut.
He blinked away the memory and focussed on the screen again. ‘I was planting blue irises in my garden this morning.’
It was not her, of course it was not. It was her daughter’s daughter in her red sweatshirt. It was the past now again in his present. As she had always been. And now, now, she was planting the bulbs for the future, the future he had hoped they would see.
And then those days when the physical is all
We move in our bodies, the sun, sea and wind
Cherry blossom and birdsong are background to our heartbeats
Beyond the far horizon the mist clears.
